Narrative:

Tape covering total air temperature/sat probe. Location: yvr. Total air temperature and sat were both reading 12 degrees higher than actual outside air temperature. Maintenance found tape around stem of rosemont probe which blocked numerous small holes resulting in erroneous temperature reading. Tape was very difficult to see due to its similar color as probe and proximity on airplane. Conspicuously colored tape used on aircraft might help make taped openings more noticeable and insure removal.
