Narrative:

Descending and inbound on the finks arrival into dca. Captain flying, was supposed to turn toward the ldn VOR at 40 DME off the aml VOR. Instead, we continued inbound on the aml VOR to 30 DME. Before realizing this, we were busy briefing the visual arrival procedures and missed this turn. (New captain.) ZDC, when asked, said there was no conflict.
