Narrative:

Upon departure from greer, sc, airport, the departure controller informed us to fly a heading of 030 degrees to intercept V605 flight planned route and climb, maintain 13000 ft. We were in the departure phase of flight and busy running checklists. The normal protocol was followed. I turned the heading bug to 030 degrees for the captain and turned our altitude selector bug to 13000 ft. After this altitude was set in the pre-selector, I called 13000 ft and the captain stated that 13000 ft was set and confirmed. The controller was also given acknowledgment and I continued with the normal climb checklist procedures. As soon as we passed 10000 ft, I informed the captain that I would be off the radio to call our operations in greer. After switching radios, I noticed the captain had ceased the climb and had started a descent. I immediately switched frequencys to see what changes had occurred. He informed me that the controller had said that 10000 ft was our assigned altitude and that we needed to descend immediately to 10000 ft. Our altitude was approximately 11700 ft. Reaching 10000 ft, the controller told us to expedite our climb through 13000 ft, but no altitude was given. The captain began to climb and I asked the controller what altitude he wanted us to climb to. The controller stated to climb and maintain FL240 and expedite through 13000 ft. At that point no further information was given and upon checking our TCASII display, no traffic could be spotted for 40 mi. After that, no further incidents or occurrences took place. That morning a long delay had taken place because the captain and myself were on airport available status and were called on short notice to take over the flight. We therefore had a quick turn in greer before departure, not to mention we were given a gate hold of 10 mins. Supplemental information from acn 428670: as we passed through 11700 ft, the controller said that we were assigned 10000 ft and we needed to hurry back down. We informed him that we were assigned 13000 ft. We were both tired from 'sitting on ready reserve status,' and I was given 3 mins advanced notice for the flts.

Title: ACR CARJ FLC ARE TOLD THEY OVERSHOT THEIR ASSIGNED ALT BY GSP TRACON AND TO RETURN TO 10000 FT. PRIOR TO REACHING ASSIGNED ALT, GSP ISSUES AN EXPEDITIOUS CLB CLRNC TO FL230.

Narrative: UPON DEP FROM GREER, SC, ARPT, THE DEP CTLR INFORMED US TO FLY A HDG OF 030 DEGS TO INTERCEPT V605 FLT PLANNED RTE AND CLB, MAINTAIN 13000 FT. WE WERE IN THE DEP PHASE OF FLT AND BUSY RUNNING CHKLISTS. THE NORMAL PROTOCOL WAS FOLLOWED. I TURNED THE HDG BUG TO 030 DEGS FOR THE CAPT AND TURNED OUR ALT SELECTOR BUG TO 13000 FT. AFTER THIS ALT WAS SET IN THE PRE-SELECTOR, I CALLED 13000 FT AND THE CAPT STATED THAT 13000 FT WAS SET AND CONFIRMED. THE CTLR WAS ALSO GIVEN ACKNOWLEDGMENT AND I CONTINUED WITH THE NORMAL CLB CHKLIST PROCS. AS SOON AS WE PASSED 10000 FT, I INFORMED THE CAPT THAT I WOULD BE OFF THE RADIO TO CALL OUR OPS IN GREER. AFTER SWITCHING RADIOS, I NOTICED THE CAPT HAD CEASED THE CLB AND HAD STARTED A DSCNT. I IMMEDIATELY SWITCHED FREQS TO SEE WHAT CHANGES HAD OCCURRED. HE INFORMED ME THAT THE CTLR HAD SAID THAT 10000 FT WAS OUR ASSIGNED ALT AND THAT WE NEEDED TO DSND IMMEDIATELY TO 10000 FT. OUR ALT WAS APPROX 11700 FT. REACHING 10000 FT, THE CTLR TOLD US TO EXPEDITE OUR CLB THROUGH 13000 FT, BUT NO ALT WAS GIVEN. THE CAPT BEGAN TO CLB AND I ASKED THE CTLR WHAT ALT HE WANTED US TO CLB TO. THE CTLR STATED TO CLB AND MAINTAIN FL240 AND EXPEDITE THROUGH 13000 FT. AT THAT POINT NO FURTHER INFO WAS GIVEN AND UPON CHKING OUR TCASII DISPLAY, NO TFC COULD BE SPOTTED FOR 40 MI. AFTER THAT, NO FURTHER INCIDENTS OR OCCURRENCES TOOK PLACE. THAT MORNING A LONG DELAY HAD TAKEN PLACE BECAUSE THE CAPT AND MYSELF WERE ON ARPT AVAILABLE STATUS AND WERE CALLED ON SHORT NOTICE TO TAKE OVER THE FLT. WE THEREFORE HAD A QUICK TURN IN GREER BEFORE DEP, NOT TO MENTION WE WERE GIVEN A GATE HOLD OF 10 MINS. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 428670: AS WE PASSED THROUGH 11700 FT, THE CTLR SAID THAT WE WERE ASSIGNED 10000 FT AND WE NEEDED TO HURRY BACK DOWN. WE INFORMED HIM THAT WE WERE ASSIGNED 13000 FT. WE WERE BOTH TIRED FROM 'SITTING ON READY RESERVE STATUS,' AND I WAS GIVEN 3 MINS ADVANCED NOTICE FOR THE FLTS.
