Narrative:

Slightly off course on visual breakout on ILS approach to minimums and consequent over correction on landing. Chain of events: PF (myself) was on ILS runway 5R approach to ind. Autoplt was turned off at 1000 ft AGL as is company policy. RVR reported at 6000 ft RVR. A textbook standardized approach was flown with no difficulty. PNF (captain) called 'approach lights in sight, continue.' at this point, I started to scan outside as well as instruments despite captain's order to 'stay on gauges.' I drifted slightly right and the ILS displayed this, but not so much to show amber warning, the flight command bars were still centered. I visually obtained runway with aircraft just off to the right of right edge. I was uncomfortable with position and called 'go around,' but captain took command of situation and said 'no, you can make it.' new to aircraft and concerned about wingtip strike stressed in training, I did not adequately control aircraft at first instant. Immediately after, I overctled in attempt to get it down within touchdown zone. As a result, came close to landing on left edge of runway (off centerline, of course). Captain took control at end of flare to assist landing. Landing was smooth. Tough situation to correct. Xfer of control at low altitude. Runway was in sight and captain was exercising his authority/authorized to overrule go around. He gave me every chance to finish approach, but perhaps should have taken controls and gotten aircraft safely on ground. Fault lies with myself for breakdown in scan at critical moment in effort to 'seek runway.'

Title: E145 CAPT OVERRIDES FO'S ATTEMPTED GAR AT IND.

Narrative: SLIGHTLY OFF COURSE ON VISUAL BREAKOUT ON ILS APCH TO MINIMUMS AND CONSEQUENT OVER CORRECTION ON LNDG. CHAIN OF EVENTS: PF (MYSELF) WAS ON ILS RWY 5R APCH TO IND. AUTOPLT WAS TURNED OFF AT 1000 FT AGL AS IS COMPANY POLICY. RVR RPTED AT 6000 FT RVR. A TEXTBOOK STANDARDIZED APCH WAS FLOWN WITH NO DIFFICULTY. PNF (CAPT) CALLED 'APCH LIGHTS IN SIGHT, CONTINUE.' AT THIS POINT, I STARTED TO SCAN OUTSIDE AS WELL AS INSTS DESPITE CAPT'S ORDER TO 'STAY ON GAUGES.' I DRIFTED SLIGHTLY R AND THE ILS DISPLAYED THIS, BUT NOT SO MUCH TO SHOW AMBER WARNING, THE FLT COMMAND BARS WERE STILL CTRED. I VISUALLY OBTAINED RWY WITH ACFT JUST OFF TO THE R OF R EDGE. I WAS UNCOMFORTABLE WITH POS AND CALLED 'GAR,' BUT CAPT TOOK COMMAND OF SIT AND SAID 'NO, YOU CAN MAKE IT.' NEW TO ACFT AND CONCERNED ABOUT WINGTIP STRIKE STRESSED IN TRAINING, I DID NOT ADEQUATELY CTL ACFT AT FIRST INSTANT. IMMEDIATELY AFTER, I OVERCTLED IN ATTEMPT TO GET IT DOWN WITHIN TOUCHDOWN ZONE. AS A RESULT, CAME CLOSE TO LNDG ON L EDGE OF RWY (OFF CTRLINE, OF COURSE). CAPT TOOK CTL AT END OF FLARE TO ASSIST LNDG. LNDG WAS SMOOTH. TOUGH SIT TO CORRECT. XFER OF CTL AT LOW ALT. RWY WAS IN SIGHT AND CAPT WAS EXERCISING HIS AUTH TO OVERRULE GAR. HE GAVE ME EVERY CHANCE TO FINISH APCH, BUT PERHAPS SHOULD HAVE TAKEN CTLS AND GOTTEN ACFT SAFELY ON GND. FAULT LIES WITH MYSELF FOR BREAKDOWN IN SCAN AT CRITICAL MOMENT IN EFFORT TO 'SEEK RWY.'
