Narrative:

On right downwind runway 24R lax at 3500 ft, 190 KTS, flaps 2 degrees or 5 degrees, experienced a wake turbulence encounter. We were 7-8 mi intrail of a heavy jet and the aircraft began to roll +/-10 degrees left and right. Then the aircraft began a left roll. A 25 degrees left angle of bank, I disengaged the autoplt and autothrottle and began to input right aileron. The aircraft continued to roll left and I had to input fll right aileron to stop the left roll. The plane stopped at 40 degrees left angle of bank he waited there for a moment and then began to roll right again. We informed ATC and extended downwind to gain more separation. The passenger and flight attendants were all seated for landing at the time of the encounter and were not injured.
