Narrative:

The crew was aware of a hydraulic valve problem before boarding. It was fixed and we took off. After takeoff, the landing gear would not retract so we had to return to lhr. Due to an older model B767-300, it wasn't possible to dump fuel. The crew declared an emergency and told the cabin crew to just be prepared. We did not officially prepare the passenger. However, the flight attendants stayed in their jump seats and were ready for a hard landing. The landing was perfect and we bussed the people back to the terminal. The airplane was taken OTS and company rebooked the people the next day.
