Narrative:

After making several approachs at lgb, made missed approach after ILS to runway 30. Missed approach was to be made in VFR conditions. After missed approach, we planned to return to crq for VOR approach. I instructed student to remain below the class B airspace until we were clear to the south. When I saw a fix on the ground that I knew was clear of the class B airspace I told the student who was flying to climb to 11500 ft. My mistake was using a fix that would have been clear of the class B airspace before it was redefined earlier this yr. I knew about the change and had the chart in the aircraft (but not out). I just went back to what I had been doing for yrs. Another case of using memory when the chart should have been reviewed.
