Narrative:
Upon flap extension we had a system 'a' hydraulic loss. Using appropriate checklist and upon alternate flap extension we were not able to lower the outboard flaps, and the #4 slat would not extend. We followed all available checklist but none covered this situation. The crew's experience level enabled us to improvise and make an uneventful landing. The #4 slat actuator failed and the outboard alternate flap extension motor failed.
