Narrative:

Flew in to fdl. Directed to turn left off runway 36 onto runway 9/27 and follow the marshaller's hand signals to parking, no mention of changing to ground control frequency. I followed marshaller's signals down runway 9/26 onto taxiway and then back across runway 9/27 to parking. So, I crossed runway 9/27 without talking to anyone, simply did as instructed and followed marshallers. Was runway 9/27 closed -- used only as taxiway? I don't know, thus this report. Turns out they put me in the wrong area, had to come back out. Called ground before proceeding out and was told to cross runway 9/27 and taxi out on the parallel. So, if runway 9/27 closed, they need to tell folks. I wasn't sure after it happened if I should have called ground for the first crossing or not -- wasn't instructed to, and followed marshallers across the runway. Probably no deal at all, but a little nervous about it after the fact.

WAS RWY 9/27 CLOSED -- USED ONLY AS TXWY? I DON'T KNOW, THUS THIS RPT. TURNS OUT THEY PUT ME IN THE WRONG AREA, HAD TO COME BACK OUT. CALLED GND BEFORE PROCEEDING OUT AND WAS TOLD TO CROSS RWY 9/27 AND TAXI OUT ON THE PARALLEL. SO, IF RWY 9/27 CLOSED, THEY NEED TO TELL FOLKS. I WASN'T SURE AFTER IT HAPPENED IF I SHOULD HAVE CALLED GND FOR THE FIRST XING OR NOT -- WASN'T INSTRUCTED TO, AND FOLLOWED MARSHALLERS ACROSS THE RWY. PROBABLY NO DEAL AT ALL, BUT A LITTLE NERVOUS ABOUT IT AFTER THE FACT.
