Narrative:

Captain unfamiliar with taxi route in ewr. Inadvertently turned off taxiway Z onto taxiway zb. On taxiway zb, when stopped, nose of aircraft was past hold short line. Notified ground control who directed us to taxi across runway 22L and hold short of runway 29. Captain's unfamiliarity with taxi route coupled with first officer programming FMC contributed to this event. Supplemental information from acn 407265: captain taxiing aircraft on taxiway Z to hold short of runway 22L. While on taxiway zb, nose of aircraft was past hold short line. First officer busy loading FMC weight tab numbers and calling local company radio to correct crew count on final ACARS weight tab. Upon looking out of aircraft, and realizing aircraft position first officer immediately notified tower and requested to cross runway 22L, which was granted by tower controller. I feel no other duties should be performed while taxiing aircraft. Also tower controller was busy launching departing aircraft on runway 22R and did not observe our position.
