Narrative:

The wind at the spartanburg airport was 260 degrees at 11 KTS and 270 degrees at 12 KTS at the greenville/spartanburg airport 16 mi west of spartanburg. The cessna announced that he was taxiing to runway 23 spartanburg, and called for a radio check and someone said you are loud and clear. After announcing that he was departing runway 23 with left downtown departure, a baron called spartanburg unicom for TA. The local unicom announced that spartanburg was using runway 5 and no reported traffic. As I was turning left on the crosswind pattern, the cessna announced again that he was making a left downwind departure from runway 23. At that time the baron announced that he was on right base for runway 5 as cessna was still climbing. I dropped the nose of my aircraft to look for the incoming traffic and missed the baron by approximately 150 ft.
