Narrative:

Practicing instrument flying under the hood using babylon NDB. Farmingdale class D controller needed us at 2000 ft to avoid traffic pattern. Outbound (south) on NDB tracking, inadvertently entered class B airspace south of jones beach shoreline. Immediately corrected altitude to below 1500 ft and informed frg controller that our maneuvers could not be performed at 2000 ft. Problem caused by PIC and tower not correctly communicating procedures and PIC trying to comply with tower's directions regarding altitude.
