Narrative:

Normal landing, taxi-in, and shut down at gate. While I was doing the termination checklist, ramp crew came into cockpit and advised that the #1 main tire and wheel were missing. The first officer and myself went down and verified this was correct. There was no apparent damage to aircraft. Maintenance personnel were on the scene. I proceeded to operations and notified dispatch and maintenance control in phx. Dispatch notified airport auths at cmh and lga (departure airport) of the possible hazard. From the cockpit, this was a normal flight from taxi-out to shutdown. The landing was normal with no anti- skid lights, normal braking, rollout, and taxi-in. All hydraulic system and braking indicators and gauges were normal. Upon inspection, the #1 main wheel and tire were missing, as well as the wheel cover and outer wheel bearing. Brake assembly and anti-skid generator were still on the strut. The inner wheel bearing was found on the strut. It appeared to be seized and lacking grease. To date, the wheel has not been reported found. The prior maintenance logs indicated the tire and wheel assembly had been changed 3 days earlier.
