Narrative:

I was on a course from oun to childress, and contacted altus approach. Altus told me to contact ft sill. I reported where I thought I was, and they told me if I was close to altus to contact them. I contacted altus and told them where I was. They told me to tune in my transponder and identify. They notified me that I was 4 mi inside the restr airspace. I had seen the jets and reported seeing traffic at my 12 O'clock position. I immediately turned north, they then directed me to head north. I then took a vector to get back on course. I was at an altitude of 6500 ft. The 2 jets appeared to be perpendicular to my course and maneuvering. I was within 2-3 mi of the jets. In retrospect I crossed my chkpoint of anadarko and spotted lake ellsworth recognizing the feature on my sectional. I looked ahead and spotted a second lake which I took to be tom steed reservoir. In actuality, the lake I saw was a lake due north of the restr area. At that point I figured I was north of course and deviated south to crossing lake. When I did it resulted with my entry into the restr airspace. Lesson learned #1: I was on course through anadarko then proceeded to make a 25 degree heading change that was not necessary. Lesson learned #2: I did not use my VOR to help me identify chkpoints. I had the hobart VOR tuned in, but it was not a good VOR to use to identify my chkpoints, as it was almost parallel to my course instead of perpendicular.

Title: STUDENT PLT OF AN SMA SEL INADVERTENTLY ENTERED RESTR AIRSPACE DURING A XCOUNTRY TRAINING FLT. BEING UNCERTAIN OF HIS EXACT POS, HE CONTACTED ATC APCH CTL AND WAS DIRECTED TO IDENT HIS XPONDER WHEREIN HE WAS INFORMED THAT HE HAD ALREADY ENTERED THE NEARBY RESTR AIRSPACE AND GIVEN VECTORS TO EXIT AT ONCE. HE ALSO NOTICED 2 JET ACFT WITHIN 3 MI DOING MANEUVERS.

Narrative: I WAS ON A COURSE FROM OUN TO CHILDRESS, AND CONTACTED ALTUS APCH. ALTUS TOLD ME TO CONTACT FT SILL. I RPTED WHERE I THOUGHT I WAS, AND THEY TOLD ME IF I WAS CLOSE TO ALTUS TO CONTACT THEM. I CONTACTED ALTUS AND TOLD THEM WHERE I WAS. THEY TOLD ME TO TUNE IN MY XPONDER AND IDENT. THEY NOTIFIED ME THAT I WAS 4 MI INSIDE THE RESTR AIRSPACE. I HAD SEEN THE JETS AND RPTED SEEING TFC AT MY 12 O'CLOCK POS. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED N, THEY THEN DIRECTED ME TO HEAD N. I THEN TOOK A VECTOR TO GET BACK ON COURSE. I WAS AT AN ALT OF 6500 FT. IN ACTUALITY, THE LAKE I SAW WAS A LAKE DUE N OF THE RESTR AREA. AT THAT POINT I FIGURED I WAS N OF COURSE AND DEVIATED S TO CROSSING LAKE. WHEN I DID IT RESULTED WITH MY ENTRY INTO THE RESTR AIRSPACE. LESSON LEARNED #1: I WAS ON COURSE THROUGH ANADARKO THEN PROCEEDED TO MAKE A 25 DEG HDG CHANGE THAT WAS NOT NECESSARY. LESSON LEARNED #2: I DID NOT USE MY VOR TO HELP ME IDENT CHKPOINTS. I HAD THE HOBART VOR TUNED IN, BUT IT WAS NOT A GOOD VOR TO USE TO IDENT MY CHKPOINTS, AS IT WAS ALMOST PARALLEL TO MY COURSE INSTEAD OF PERPENDICULAR.
