Narrative:

As I was taxiing/parking my aircraft at its assigned atl terminal gate, the #1 flight attendant informed me that the #3 flight attendant just stated that there were 2 armed police officers on the aircraft who had not filled out a 'carry-on firearms authority/authorized' form. Being familiar with the intense security procedures in place at my origination airport, iad, I felt that the #3 flight attendant was not correct in her assumption. The #1 flight attendant pointed out the 2 officers as they deplaned, and I stopped them in the jetway to determine their status. They stated that they had a connection and did not have time to talk and walked off the jetway. Because I could not determine their status and because of their lack of cooperation, I went immediately to my company operations control center in atl and advised the supervisor of the incident. The supervisor checked the computer reservations system using the name of one of the officer's business cards that I had received. The station manager, with security, met the 2 officers at their next flight's boarding gate. The officers were found not to be armed as the #3 flight attendant had thought. The station manager determined that the situation was caused by a misunderstood communication between the #3 flight attendant and the police officers.

Title: WHILE TAXIING TO THE GATE THE CAPT WAS ADVISED 2 POLICE OFFICER PAX WERE ARMED AND HAD NO 'CARRY ON FIREARMS' AUTH BUT LATER FOUND NOT TO BE ARMED.

Narrative: AS I WAS TAXIING/PARKING MY ACFT AT ITS ASSIGNED ATL TERMINAL GATE, THE #1 FLT ATTENDANT INFORMED ME THAT THE #3 FLT ATTENDANT JUST STATED THAT THERE WERE 2 ARMED POLICE OFFICERS ON THE ACFT WHO HAD NOT FILLED OUT A 'CARRY-ON FIREARMS AUTH' FORM. BEING FAMILIAR WITH THE INTENSE SECURITY PROCS IN PLACE AT MY ORIGINATION ARPT, IAD, I FELT THAT THE #3 FLT ATTENDANT WAS NOT CORRECT IN HER ASSUMPTION. THE #1 FLT ATTENDANT POINTED OUT THE 2 OFFICERS AS THEY DEPLANED, AND I STOPPED THEM IN THE JETWAY TO DETERMINE THEIR STATUS. THEY STATED THAT THEY HAD A CONNECTION AND DID NOT HAVE TIME TO TALK AND WALKED OFF THE JETWAY. BECAUSE I COULD NOT DETERMINE THEIR STATUS AND BECAUSE OF THEIR LACK OF COOPERATION, I WENT IMMEDIATELY TO MY COMPANY OPS CTL CTR IN ATL AND ADVISED THE SUPVR OF THE INCIDENT. THE SUPVR CHKED THE COMPUTER RESERVATIONS SYS USING THE NAME OF ONE OF THE OFFICER'S BUSINESS CARDS THAT I HAD RECEIVED. THE STATION MGR, WITH SECURITY, MET THE 2 OFFICERS AT THEIR NEXT FLT'S BOARDING GATE. THE OFFICERS WERE FOUND NOT TO BE ARMED AS THE #3 FLT ATTENDANT HAD THOUGHT. THE STATION MGR DETERMINED THAT THE SIT WAS CAUSED BY A MISUNDERSTOOD COM BTWN THE #3 FLT ATTENDANT AND THE POLICE OFFICERS.
