Narrative:

We were en route from msp to ugn. At FL290 we were given a crossing restr of 10000 ft at jvl. ATC had given this descent clearance late (80 KT tailwind) and the required rate was 5500 FPM. No passenger were on board so we retarded the throttles in an attempt to meet the restr. We were concerned about making the restr and controling airspeed in the descent with the restr requiring 5000 FPM or more all the way down. At FL180 the PF did not reset the altitude to the local setting and after passing the jvl fix with a modification to the restr to 6000 ft, we ended up leveling off too high (at approximately 6500 ft). The controller drew our attention to the miscue by reading us the local altimeter setting. I reset my altimeter and corrected the altitude promptly.

Title: FLC OF WW24 DSNDS THROUGH FL180 AND FORGETS TO RESET ALTIMETER. LEVEL OFF FOR XING RESTR IS 500 FT HIGH.

Narrative: WE WERE ENRTE FROM MSP TO UGN. AT FL290 WE WERE GIVEN A XING RESTR OF 10000 FT AT JVL. ATC HAD GIVEN THIS DSCNT CLRNC LATE (80 KT TAILWIND) AND THE REQUIRED RATE WAS 5500 FPM. NO PAX WERE ON BOARD SO WE RETARDED THE THROTTLES IN AN ATTEMPT TO MEET THE RESTR. WE WERE CONCERNED ABOUT MAKING THE RESTR AND CTLING AIRSPD IN THE DSCNT WITH THE RESTR REQUIRING 5000 FPM OR MORE ALL THE WAY DOWN. AT FL180 THE PF DID NOT RESET THE ALT TO THE LCL SETTING AND AFTER PASSING THE JVL FIX WITH A MODIFICATION TO THE RESTR TO 6000 FT, WE ENDED UP LEVELING OFF TOO HIGH (AT APPROX 6500 FT). THE CTLR DREW OUR ATTN TO THE MISCUE BY READING US THE LCL ALTIMETER SETTING. I RESET MY ALTIMETER AND CORRECTED THE ALT PROMPTLY.
