Narrative:

After takeoff from runway 35L at dfw at 3000-4000 ft we were given a turn to 080 degrees (climbing to 10000 ft). Passing through heading 030 degrees we got a TCASII alert then immediately a TCASII RA, visual on a B737 at 1 O'clock position high, and started a descent and steeper right turn. After we were clear of the conflict we started the climb back to 10000 ft and rolled out on 080 degree heading. We reported a TCASII alert to the controller and proceeded with the flight. Without TCASII or a visual sighting I believe that a collision would have happened. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: secondary reporter stated that the controller did not issue the B737 traffic and indicated he told approach that that was close but did not get a response from the controller. Reporter does not know if this was an operational error. Reporter's aircraft was a B737-200.

Original NASA ASRS Text

Title: ACR B737 OUT OF 4000 FT CLBING TO 10000 FT RECEIVES TCASII RA AND VISUAL ON AN ACR CLBING THROUGH 5000-6000 FT AND MAKES EVASIVE ACTION TURN AND DSCNT.

Narrative: AFTER TKOF FROM RWY 35L AT DFW AT 3000-4000 FT WE WERE GIVEN A TURN TO 080 DEGS (CLBING TO 10000 FT). PASSING THROUGH HDG 030 DEGS WE GOT A TCASII ALERT THEN IMMEDIATELY A TCASII RA, VISUAL ON A B737 AT 1 O'CLOCK POS HIGH, AND STARTED A DSCNT AND STEEPER R TURN. AFTER WE WERE CLR OF THE CONFLICT WE STARTED THE CLB BACK TO 10000 FT AND ROLLED OUT ON 080 DEG HDG. WE RPTED A TCASII ALERT TO THE CTLR AND PROCEEDED WITH THE FLT. WITHOUT TCASII OR A VISUAL SIGHTING I BELIEVE THAT A COLLISION WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: SECONDARY RPTR STATED THAT THE CTLR DID NOT ISSUE THE B737 TFC AND INDICATED HE TOLD APCH THAT THAT WAS CLOSE BUT DID NOT GET A RESPONSE FROM THE CTLR. RPTR DOES NOT KNOW IF THIS WAS AN OPERROR. RPTR'S ACFT WAS A B737-200.
