Narrative:

During taxi in to gate at lit, left wingtip of aircraft contacted top of cabin service truck. Damage to aircraft appeared to be limited to wingtip light assembly. Ground crew consisted of marshaller and 2 wing walkers. The wing walker on the left was positioned in front of the truck and indicated all clear as the aircraft was taxied in. The marshaller did not signal stop until after the aircraft wingtip had contacted the truck (about 5-6 ft remaining to the planned parking spot). The aircraft was shut down and later towed to the parking spot to allow the passenger to deplane. The aircraft was centered on the lead-in line to the gate. No injuries occurred on the ground or in the aircraft. The truck was tipped over on its side by the impact. It was later righted and towed away. Although the truck appeared close, the marshaller and wing walker both indicated that the aircraft would clear the truck. The aircraft was moving at about 5-10 mph at the time of the incident. The view from the cockpit was blocked by the jetway the last 10 ft of taxi in. Also, the yellow ground obstruction lines were not clearly visible from the cockpit. I felt there was sufficient clearance to taxi in to the gate.

Title: THE L WINGTIP OF AN ACR MD88 STRUCK A SVC TRUCK AS THE FLC WAS FOLLOWING THE MARSHALLER'S DIRECTIONS INTO THE GATE. TRUCK WAS FLIPPED ON SIDE. THE WINGTIP LIGHT ASSEMBLY WAS DAMAGED.

Narrative: DURING TAXI IN TO GATE AT LIT, L WINGTIP OF ACFT CONTACTED TOP OF CABIN SVC TRUCK. DAMAGE TO ACFT APPEARED TO BE LIMITED TO WINGTIP LIGHT ASSEMBLY. GND CREW CONSISTED OF MARSHALLER AND 2 WING WALKERS. THE WING WALKER ON THE L WAS POSITIONED IN FRONT OF THE TRUCK AND INDICATED ALL CLR AS THE ACFT WAS TAXIED IN. THE MARSHALLER DID NOT SIGNAL STOP UNTIL AFTER THE ACFT WINGTIP HAD CONTACTED THE TRUCK (ABOUT 5-6 FT REMAINING TO THE PLANNED PARKING SPOT). THE ACFT WAS SHUT DOWN AND LATER TOWED TO THE PARKING SPOT TO ALLOW THE PAX TO DEPLANE. THE ACFT WAS CTRED ON THE LEAD-IN LINE TO THE GATE. NO INJURIES OCCURRED ON THE GND OR IN THE ACFT. THE TRUCK WAS TIPPED OVER ON ITS SIDE BY THE IMPACT. IT WAS LATER RIGHTED AND TOWED AWAY. ALTHOUGH THE TRUCK APPEARED CLOSE, THE MARSHALLER AND WING WALKER BOTH INDICATED THAT THE ACFT WOULD CLR THE TRUCK. THE ACFT WAS MOVING AT ABOUT 5-10 MPH AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. THE VIEW FROM THE COCKPIT WAS BLOCKED BY THE JETWAY THE LAST 10 FT OF TAXI IN. ALSO, THE YELLOW GND OBSTRUCTION LINES WERE NOT CLRLY VISIBLE FROM THE COCKPIT. I FELT THERE WAS SUFFICIENT CLRNC TO TAXI IN TO THE GATE.
