Air carrier medium large transport enters a MOA without permission. Clearance had them proceeding north of it but PIC assumed clearance to be wrong and went the 'usual' routing. Controller caught them in the MOA and questioned their clearance.

Cleared direct vtu direct rzs. PF understood ATC corrected to direct rzs which is usual clearance. Proceeded direct rzs, entered military hot zone. (Assumed) ATC said 'no conflict, proceed,' after questioning our route. PNF should have confirmed clearance. ATC should have highlighted the change rather than enclosing it in several sentences since it was different.
