Narrative:

We just handed off from ground to tower and were cleared for takeoff. While taxiing into position and prior to the takeoff roll, the first officer advised me that he hadn't gotten our IFR clearance through ACARS or clearance delivery. I had him call the tower and advise them that we had to clear the runway. They asked if we required any assistance -- I replied no. We exited the runway in a normal taxi speed and got back into the takeoff line while the first officer got the clearance. We took off a few mins later with an uneventful flight. Not knowing how this was classif ied by the local tower personnel, it should be noted that this was no abort and that the discrepancy was noted and dealt with prior to the takeoff roll.

Title: FLC OF AN MLG ACR ACFT GAVE UP TKOF CLRNC AND REQUESTED PERMISSION TO TAXI OFF RWY AFTER IT WAS DISCOVERED BY THE FO THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THEIR IFR FLT PLAN FROM ACARS.

Narrative: WE JUST HANDED OFF FROM GND TO TWR AND WERE CLRED FOR TKOF. WHILE TAXIING INTO POS AND PRIOR TO THE TKOF ROLL, THE FO ADVISED ME THAT HE HADN'T GOTTEN OUR IFR CLRNC THROUGH ACARS OR CLRNC DELIVERY. I HAD HIM CALL THE TWR AND ADVISE THEM THAT WE HAD TO CLR THE RWY. THEY ASKED IF WE REQUIRED ANY ASSISTANCE -- I REPLIED NO. WE EXITED THE RWY IN A NORMAL TAXI SPD AND GOT BACK INTO THE TKOF LINE WHILE THE FO GOT THE CLRNC. WE TOOK OFF A FEW MINS LATER WITH AN UNEVENTFUL FLT. NOT KNOWING HOW THIS WAS CLASSIF IED BY THE LCL TWR PERSONNEL, IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THIS WAS NO ABORT AND THAT THE DISCREPANCY WAS NOTED AND DEALT WITH PRIOR TO THE TKOF ROLL.
