Narrative:

CAT ii approach to runway 18R at dfw, reported RVR 1200 ft. Approach was normal up to approximately 150 ft at which time approach lights started to come into view. Captain took control of aircraft from first officer and at decision ht autoplt rapidly pitched down aircraft at which point captain immediately disconnected autoplt and pitched aircraft nose up while adding power. Aircraft landed on runway in a nose high, power on, attitude and as a result bounced back into the air. At this point visual reference was lost and captain executed go around. Because of fuel state and WX at dfw elected to proceed to alternate abi. Uneventful flight to abi. After 2-3 hour delay was able to return to dfw at approximately XA30 local. Landing on runway 18R after CAT ii approach when aircraft bounced into air was not in any crew members' opinion, flight attendant or pilot, hard. No maintenance action was deemed necessary. At no time throughout entire flight tul- dfw-abi-dfw no passenger or crew reported any injuries or discomfort. Report being submitted due to passenger complaint after missing connection to hawaii. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: this first officer did not think that the pitch down was necessarily caused by the autoplt. He said that there had been some gusts on the final approach and this could have been a cause. The autoplt worked normally later in the day. He said that they wrote the report primarily for company use because of an irate passenger complaint. The flight crew did not believe that any of the B727- 200 system were at fault and no maintenance write-up was made.
