Narrative:

During approach to landing at hutchinson municipal airport I was cleared for the visual approach to runway 17 by wichita approach control and advised to change to hutchinson tower frequency. After checking in with the tower, I was approaching the airport from the southeast and circled in very hazy conditions to the north of the airport for downwind and base to runway 17 but in that high wing aircraft, I lost sight of the runway in the turn. My directional gyroscope was also off by 15 degrees. When I rolled out, I was on base then final, but it wasn't until I was over the numbers that I realized that I had come in on the wrong runway. Paying more attention to position as well as traffic watch would have prevented this from happening.
