Flight crew of a DC9-50 either followed the wrong SID departure, or were given the wrong one by ATC, since ATC intervened when they were 4 mi out on departure to advise that they were using the wrong one. Only a review of the ATC tapes would reveal the true clearance given to the flight crew.
