Narrative:

Upon review of aircraft logbook in dfw I did not notice an open write-up. After our landing in bwi the flight engineer noticed the oversight and brought it to my attention. I contacted tul technician to advise them of my oversight. I also contacted bwi maintenance to inform them of the previous write- up. The flight attendant had previously checked the PA and said the volume was weak no other problems were noted. This was my oversight as during my logbook review I initialed after the preceding captain's signature and then began working backwards reviewing the log. I was not in a hurry -- had plenty of time -- just missed it. I guess this implies we're all human and can and do make mistakes
