Narrative:

ATC gave us a steep descent to runway 18R, in IMC conditions initially. Visual approach to runway 18R, at 500 ft airspeed was target plus 10 KTS, on speed at threshold, landed long, rollout was normal (10000 ft of runway). PF should have used drag earlier, ILS GS is no help unless you're on the localizer. 3 to 1 descent ratio was not enough for a normal approach, in this aircraft. Lessons: configure early on steep approachs. Ask for s-turns, etc, if high. Go around if it's not working out.

Title: B737-300 LANDS LONG.

Narrative: ATC GAVE US A STEEP DSCNT TO RWY 18R, IN IMC CONDITIONS INITIALLY. VISUAL APCH TO RWY 18R, AT 500 FT AIRSPD WAS TARGET PLUS 10 KTS, ON SPD AT THRESHOLD, LANDED LONG, ROLLOUT WAS NORMAL (10000 FT OF RWY). PF SHOULD HAVE USED DRAG EARLIER, ILS GS IS NO HELP UNLESS YOU'RE ON THE LOC. 3 TO 1 DSCNT RATIO WAS NOT ENOUGH FOR A NORMAL APCH, IN THIS ACFT. LESSONS: CONFIGURE EARLY ON STEEP APCHS. ASK FOR S-TURNS, ETC, IF HIGH. GAR IF IT'S NOT WORKING OUT.
