Narrative:

A loud grinding sound occurred on rotation. Gear was unable to be retracted. After two attempts to raise the gear and following the aircraft emergency checklist, we decided to return for landing at jfk. Emergency ground crews checked the aircraft and found no damage. After taxiing to the ramp, the wheel bearing was noticed to have failed and the tire was almost off the axle. No injuries to passenger or crew.
