Narrative:

On a normal landing roll, heavy braking was applied by myself, being the copilot, for about a second, leading to tire blowout and skid marks left for about 2000 ft down the runway. The airplane slowly skidded off the left side of the runway and eventually hit a runway light, coming to a stop on the grass. The PIC, right seat/check airman (since this was a left seat check ride), at that point took control of the airplane, shutting down all electrical and engines. Damage to wheel and tire and high speed LORAN antenna. At that point, the emergency vehicles came out and there was a runway closure with no further incidents. The FAA came out, interviewed us and reported it as an incident. It occurred in denver, denver international airport, runway 35L, around XA30 am local time. No flight plan -- canceled IFR prior to starting maneuvers.
