Narrative:

We were given a clearance to cross papee at 16000 ft. The first officer was flying and started the descent at what looked like the proper time. During the descent, center asked if we had a clearance to cross papee at 16000 ft. I acknowledged yes, then looked and saw we would be high without a greater descent. We crossed papee at about 500 ft high. I looked and saw the computer was giving bad vertical information.
