Narrative:

After landing on runway 36L in cvg we cleared the runway at intersection D7 and contacted ground. They told us to proceed to spot X and contact an air carrier's ramp who, in turn, told us to proceed to spot xa and contact another air carrier's ramp. They said to come in 'spot xc' and 'make a right turn' to our gate. When we entered at intersection J the ramp said ground was annoyed that we did not contact them for clearance onto taxiway J.
