Narrative:

Passing 17000 ft MSL, qnh of 28.77, PF called '29.92.' PNF set his altimeter to 29.92, but PF did not. Approaching assigned altitude of FL330, PNF said 'you're going to overshoot FL330.' then he noticed my altimeter was still set to 28.77. We actually climbed to 33600 ft before returning to FL330. Visual sits, when they arise, can cause deviation and loss of PNF/PF xchk and back-up. Our SOP calls for a warning call 1000 ft prior to assigned altitude and in this case neither pilot made the call. PNF did voice concern about 400 ft prior to FL330 on his altimeter. Confusion delay resulted in overshoot.
