Narrative:

This incident occurred during push out/taxi. The aircraft was positioned for taxi and ground crew given a verbal disconnect when a flight attendant called with a systems problem. I requested the ground crew to stand-by on the head set and directed my crew toward solving the systems problem. After satisfactorily solving the problem, I requested and received taxi clearance, forgetting that I had requested our ground crew to stand-by on the head set. I taxied into a tow bar which required our being towed back to the gate for a maintenance inspection.
