Narrative:

On sep/xx/95 at bur, holding short runway 8, I was with a student pilot and we were going to do multiple approachs. I was given the van nuys 7 departure, then direct to vny. After takeoff from runway 8, I turned to a heading of 210 degrees, and continued my climb. I then turned the airplane to 270 degrees to fly directly to vny VOR. After approximately 2 mins, I was told to turn immediately to 180 degrees, then I was given the number to call, after I landed. The cause of this was information misunderstood and misinterpreted. What I thought was that after I takeoff, I turn to 210 degrees (which I did), and then fly direct to vny. Clearance was cleared to bur airport, on vny 7 departure, direct to van nuys. Maintain 4000 ft.

Narrative: ON SEP/XX/95 AT BUR, HOLDING SHORT RWY 8, I WAS WITH A STUDENT PLT AND WE WERE GOING TO DO MULTIPLE APCHS. I WAS GIVEN THE VAN NUYS 7 DEP, THEN DIRECT TO VNY. AFTER TKOF FROM RWY 8, I TURNED TO A HDG OF 210 DEGS, AND CONTINUED MY CLB. I THEN TURNED THE AIRPLANE TO 270 DEGS TO FLY DIRECTLY TO VNY VOR. AFTER APPROX 2 MINS, I WAS TOLD TO TURN IMMEDIATELY TO 180 DEGS, THEN I WAS GIVEN THE NUMBER TO CALL, AFTER I LANDED. THE CAUSE OF THIS WAS INFO MISUNDERSTOOD AND MISINTERPRETED. WHAT I THOUGHT WAS THAT AFTER I TKOF, I TURN TO 210 DEGS (WHICH I DID), AND THEN FLY DIRECT TO VNY. CLRNC WAS CLRED TO BUR ARPT, ON VNY 7 DEP, DIRECT TO VAN NUYS. MAINTAIN 4000 FT.
