Narrative:

On climb out, #2 engine bleed duct leak light illuminated. The emergency checklist was followed. When the light did not go out 3 mins after the engine bleed valve was closed, the engine was shut down in accordance with the emergency checklist. A normal single engine landing was made. Air carrier maintenance 'MEL'd' the warning system over the telephone. However, I had to insist on a visual inspection to ensure that no damage had occurred to the aircraft in case the bleed leak had been a real one.
