In sum: a young reporter is impressed with his ability to navigation in VMC after dark in the elp area. His electrical system went out, so he declared an emergency and asked his father in the left seat to point him to elp. The father avoided biggs aaf, but headed the aircraft towards juarez. The reporter found that uncomfortable and headed towards elp. He turned his radio back on and obtained landing clearance at elp. He believes that elp does not have a light beacon. He is a recent graduate of an 'aeronautical university.'

Title: ACFT EQUIP PROB ELECTRICAL FAILURE.

Narrative: IN SUM: A YOUNG RPTR IS IMPRESSED WITH HIS ABILITY TO NAV IN VMC AFTER DARK IN THE ELP AREA. HIS ELECTRICAL SYS WENT OUT, SO HE DECLARED AN EMER AND ASKED HIS FATHER IN THE L SEAT TO POINT HIM TO ELP. THE FATHER AVOIDED BIGGS AAF, BUT HEADED THE ACFT TOWARDS JUAREZ. THE RPTR FOUND THAT UNCOMFORTABLE AND HEADED TOWARDS ELP. HE TURNED HIS RADIO BACK ON AND OBTAINED LNDG CLRNC AT ELP. HE BELIEVES THAT ELP DOES NOT HAVE A LIGHT BEACON. HE IS A RECENT GRADUATE OF AN 'AERO UNIVERSITY.'
