Narrative:

In-flight shutdown of #3 engine because of loss of oil. Unable to hold altitude. Could not get hold of iceland radio in time to get a clearance to a lower altitude and declared an emergency on 121.5 relayed through air carrier X and received our clearance to goose bay. Because the aircraft was operating well, I chose to continue to bos because WX was better. Because we had time, my crew and I could discuss our problems and possible problems that could occur had we taken certain actions.
