Narrative:

Assigned altitude was 7000 ft. Copilot was PF. During initial climb, captain was reading convective sigmets and monitoring altitude. Captain observed altitude of 7400 ft and asked copilot if ATC had assigned a higher altitude. Copilot began descent to 7000 ft. At 7000 ft augusta departure advised that assigned altitude was 7000 ft. Captain responded leveling at 7000 ft and asked departure if altitude deviation had created a problem. Augusta replied that there was no problem.
