Narrative:

I was doing touch and goes on runway 31 at mli. The first 2 touch and goes went smoothly. The 3RD also went well until several seconds after touchdown near the centerline of the runway. At that time, the aircraft developed a severe vibration and a pull to the left. My first thought was a flat tire on the left side. I applied brakes and tried to correct for the pull to the left, but the plane continued to the side of the runway. With heavy braking I was able to stop, but the aircraft was several ft to the side of the runway, in the grass. After visual inspection of the left tire, it was still inflated, I taxied onto the runway and back to the FBO. There were no personal injuries and no damage to the aircraft. 1 runway edge light was knocked down. Upon reflection, I believe the cause was nosewheel vibration or shimmy. Because of the possibility of loose or worn parts, I immediately notified the flying club president, so that he could arrange to have this problem corrected.

Title: LOSS OF ACFT CTL AFTER LNDG.

Narrative: I WAS DOING TOUCH AND GOES ON RWY 31 AT MLI. THE FIRST 2 TOUCH AND GOES WENT SMOOTHLY. THE 3RD ALSO WENT WELL UNTIL SEVERAL SECONDS AFTER TOUCHDOWN NEAR THE CTRLINE OF THE RWY. AT THAT TIME, THE ACFT DEVELOPED A SEVERE VIBRATION AND A PULL TO THE L. MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS A FLAT TIRE ON THE L SIDE. I APPLIED BRAKES AND TRIED TO CORRECT FOR THE PULL TO THE L, BUT THE PLANE CONTINUED TO THE SIDE OF THE RWY. WITH HVY BRAKING I WAS ABLE TO STOP, BUT THE ACFT WAS SEVERAL FT TO THE SIDE OF THE RWY, IN THE GRASS. AFTER VISUAL INSPECTION OF THE L TIRE, IT WAS STILL INFLATED, I TAXIED ONTO THE RUNWAY AND BACK TO THE FBO. THERE WERE NO PERSONAL INJURIES AND NO DAMAGE TO THE ACFT. 1 RWY EDGE LIGHT WAS KNOCKED DOWN. UPON REFLECTION, I BELIEVE THE CAUSE WAS NOSEWHEEL VIBRATION OR SHIMMY. BECAUSE OF THE POSSIBILITY OF LOOSE OR WORN PARTS, I IMMEDIATELY NOTIFIED THE FLYING CLUB PRESIDENT, SO THAT HE COULD ARRANGE TO HAVE THIS PROB CORRECTED.
