Narrative:

At lax aircraft departing runway 25R landing runway 25L controller cleared us into position and hold, then cleared us for takeoff. We had started #2 engine after leaving gate and requested 30 seconds delay in position prior to takeoff. This irritated the controller who scolded us for not being ready. We reported we were ready for takeoff, but demanded immediate clearing of the runway, and the reason for the delay. The time required to vacate the runway was much longer than the 30 seconds we requested. There were no aircraft on final approach and only 2 waiting for takeoff on runway 25R. The requested 30 second delay was to allow 3 min idle time on #2 engine before takeoff thrust. I should have started #2 earlier, but try to operate the aircraft as efficiently as possible, and conserve fuel.

Title: ACR X NOT READY FOR TKOF INSTRUCTED TO EXIT RWY.

Narrative: AT LAX ACFT DEPARTING RWY 25R LNDG RWY 25L CTLR CLRED US INTO POS AND HOLD, THEN CLRED US FOR TKOF. WE HAD STARTED #2 ENG AFTER LEAVING GATE AND REQUESTED 30 SECONDS DELAY IN POS PRIOR TO TKOF. THIS IRRITATED THE CTLR WHO SCOLDED US FOR NOT BEING READY. WE RPTED WE WERE READY FOR TKOF, BUT DEMANDED IMMEDIATE CLRING OF THE RWY, AND THE REASON FOR THE DELAY. THE TIME REQUIRED TO VACATE THE RWY WAS MUCH LONGER THAN THE 30 SECONDS WE REQUESTED. THERE WERE NO ACFT ON FINAL APCH AND ONLY 2 WAITING FOR TKOF ON RWY 25R. THE REQUESTED 30 SECOND DELAY WAS TO ALLOW 3 MIN IDLE TIME ON #2 ENG BEFORE TKOF THRUST. I SHOULD HAVE STARTED #2 EARLIER, BUT TRY TO OPERATE THE ACFT AS EFFICIENTLY AS POSSIBLE, AND CONSERVE FUEL.
