Narrative:

While en route, dispatch informed me that a suspected wheel assembly part had been found on the ramp at rdu. Maintenance thought the tire might be from landing. Flight was diverted to mem. Flight attendants accomplished emergency landing brief and fire trucks were alerted. Landing was normal and taxi was normal. Aircraft was inspected and found to be normal. Flight continued and no emergency was declared.

Title: FLC DECLARED AN EMER AND DIVERTED TO LAND AFTER DISPATCHER ADVISES OF SUSPECTED MAIN WHEEL DAMAGE.

Narrative: WHILE ENRTE, DISPATCH INFORMED ME THAT A SUSPECTED WHEEL ASSEMBLY PART HAD BEEN FOUND ON THE RAMP AT RDU. MAINT THOUGHT THE TIRE MIGHT BE FROM LNDG. FLT WAS DIVERTED TO MEM. FLT ATTENDANTS ACCOMPLISHED EMER LNDG BRIEF AND FIRE TRUCKS WERE ALERTED. LNDG WAS NORMAL AND TAXI WAS NORMAL. ACFT WAS INSPECTED AND FOUND TO BE NORMAL. FLT CONTINUED AND NO EMER WAS DECLARED.
