Narrative:

Pre departure clearance was not available through ACARS. Due to saturation on clearance delivery frequency, we received our clearance on taxi-out. I was monitoring ramp control while the first officer copied the clearance. We failed to detect a change in the routing. Our proposed routing was txk J-131 lit J-66 mem and our actual clearance was txk J-42 mem. After txk, the routing confusion resulted and we were then cleared direct mem. This underscores the necessity for both pilots to monitor and check the actual clearance received.
