Narrative:

Landed on runway 32 at srq. Cleared runway on taxiway A1 and tower cleared us to 'taxi abc via taxiway a.' abc is located at taxiway A3. I missed the turn into abc and proceeded down taxiway a toward BRITE terminal lights. Approaching runway 22 I visually checked for traffic and observed small aircraft on base. Since PNF was getting clearance outbound from tower, I did not verify any hold short instructions. I crossed runway without conflict then tower advised we missed abc and to make a 180 degree turn and hold short. I taxied to the FBO without further incident. Chain of events: after clearing runway, tower issued outbound clearance. PNF had head down. I also had my head down for a few seconds checking brake temperatures. This may have been enough distraction to miss turn. Human performance: we landed at pie a few hours earlier. Both airports have a similar layout but FBO's are in different places. I may have had a mind set of the last airport (pie) to cross the short runway to get to the FBO. Corrective measures: our company already has good SOP's. However, running a tight schedule during a long day leads to short-cuts. Next time I will have a slower taxi speed with head out of cockpit. Any doubts, I'll stop and wait for PNF to get into loop.

Title: CORPORATE ACFT TAXIES ACROSS ACTIVE RWY.

Narrative: LANDED ON RWY 32 AT SRQ. CLRED RWY ON TXWY A1 AND TWR CLRED US TO 'TAXI ABC VIA TXWY A.' ABC IS LOCATED AT TXWY A3. I MISSED THE TURN INTO ABC AND PROCEEDED DOWN TXWY A TOWARD BRITE TERMINAL LIGHTS. APCHING RWY 22 I VISUALLY CHKED FOR TFC AND OBSERVED SMALL ACFT ON BASE. SINCE PNF WAS GETTING CLRNC OUTBOUND FROM TWR, I DID NOT VERIFY ANY HOLD SHORT INSTRUCTIONS. I CROSSED RWY WITHOUT CONFLICT THEN TWR ADVISED WE MISSED ABC AND TO MAKE A 180 DEG TURN AND HOLD SHORT. I TAXIED TO THE FBO WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. CHAIN OF EVENTS: AFTER CLRING RWY, TWR ISSUED OUTBOUND CLRNC. PNF HAD HEAD DOWN. I ALSO HAD MY HEAD DOWN FOR A FEW SECONDS CHKING BRAKE TEMPS. THIS MAY HAVE BEEN ENOUGH DISTR TO MISS TURN. HUMAN PERFORMANCE: WE LANDED AT PIE A FEW HRS EARLIER. BOTH ARPTS HAVE A SIMILAR LAYOUT BUT FBO'S ARE IN DIFFERENT PLACES. I MAY HAVE HAD A MIND SET OF THE LAST ARPT (PIE) TO CROSS THE SHORT RWY TO GET TO THE FBO. CORRECTIVE MEASURES: OUR COMPANY ALREADY HAS GOOD SOP'S. HOWEVER, RUNNING A TIGHT SCHEDULE DURING A LONG DAY LEADS TO SHORT-CUTS. NEXT TIME I WILL HAVE A SLOWER TAXI SPD WITH HEAD OUT OF COCKPIT. ANY DOUBTS, I'LL STOP AND WAIT FOR PNF TO GET INTO LOOP.
