Narrative:

Scheduled flight operating between pasco, wa, and seattle, wa, cruising altitude was FL180 using the chins 2 arrival route. ATC gave directions to cross snomy intersection at 10000 ft (35 DME sea). The autoplt was being used and descent mode was activated immediately following ATC instructions. PNF then questioned exact location of the intersection and attention was diverted by both pilots. (Emb 120 descent mode autoplt gives approximately 1800-2000 FPM.) the intersection was believed to have been crossed at approximately 11500 ft. Center was telephoned after landing.

Title: ALTDEV. ALT XING RESTR NOT MET.

Narrative: SCHEDULED FLT OPERATING BTWN PASCO, WA, AND SEATTLE, WA, CRUISING ALT WAS FL180 USING THE CHINS 2 ARR RTE. ATC GAVE DIRECTIONS TO CROSS SNOMY INTXN AT 10000 FT (35 DME SEA). THE AUTOPLT WAS BEING USED AND DSCNT MODE WAS ACTIVATED IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING ATC INSTRUCTIONS. PNF THEN QUESTIONED EXACT LOCATION OF THE INTXN AND ATTN WAS DIVERTED BY BOTH PLTS. (EMB 120 DSCNT MODE AUTOPLT GIVES APPROX 1800-2000 FPM.) THE INTXN WAS BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN CROSSED AT APPROX 11500 FT. CTR WAS TELEPHONED AFTER LNDG.
