Narrative:

After crossing smo 110.8 we were told to fly 070 degree descent to 2500 ft about 3 mi out of smo. We were asked if we have airport in sight. I asked captain if he could see airport. He said yes. I then told socal we had airport in sight. They said cleared for visual to runway 24R. We were at that time set up and briefed for runway 24R. When we were told to contact tower we told approach we had to continue 2 more mi to set up for visual approach. We were too high to make the turn sbound to base at this time. We contacted tower, they said turn base now, cleared for visual approach runway 24R. At this time while in the turn and descent I idented ILS 24R on captain side. Still had smo in my side. Things happened fast. Captain asked me to set heading of approximately 240 degrees, I told him that would be too much of a turn. He then said flaps 25, speed 152. I put in heading 280 degrees, speed bug did not work. I mentioned airspeed bug not working. Tower said cleared to land on runway 24R, 727 traffic is landing on south side. I told tower traffic in sight clear to land on right. I mentioned to captain ILS runway 24R tuned and idented. Watch traffic on your side landing on south side. For some reason I had to mention this twice. The captain then asked tower where is this traffic going on left? At that time 727 made a go around, and at same time, lax tower said go around, climb 200 ft. We made normal company go around at 2000 ft, lax tower contact departure. Departure said fly direct to smo climb to 4000 ft. I then tuned and idented smo 110.8 on captain side and flew to smo. Then came around to land.

Narrative: AFTER XING SMO 110.8 WE WERE TOLD TO FLY 070 DEG DSCNT TO 2500 FT ABOUT 3 MI OUT OF SMO. WE WERE ASKED IF WE HAVE ARPT IN SIGHT. I ASKED CAPT IF HE COULD SEE ARPT. HE SAID YES. I THEN TOLD SOCAL WE HAD ARPT IN SIGHT. THEY SAID CLRED FOR VISUAL TO RWY 24R. WE WERE AT THAT TIME SET UP AND BRIEFED FOR RWY 24R. WHEN WE WERE TOLD TO CONTACT TWR WE TOLD APCH WE HAD TO CONTINUE 2 MORE MI TO SET UP FOR VISUAL APCH. WE WERE TOO HIGH TO MAKE THE TURN SBOUND TO BASE AT THIS TIME. WE CONTACTED TWR, THEY SAID TURN BASE NOW,CLRED FOR VISUAL APCH RWY 24R. AT THIS TIME WHILE IN THE TURN AND DSCNT I IDENTED ILS 24R ON CAPT SIDE. STILL HAD SMO IN MY SIDE. THINGS HAPPENED FAST. CAPT ASKED ME TO SET HDG OF APPROX 240 DEGS, I TOLD HIM THAT WOULD BE TOO MUCH OF A TURN. HE THEN SAID FLAPS 25, SPD 152. I PUT IN HDG 280 DEGS, SPD BUG DID NOT WORK. I MENTIONED AIRSPD BUG NOT WORKING. TWR SAID CLRED TO LAND ON RWY 24R, 727 TFC IS LNDG ON S SIDE. I TOLD TWR TFC IN SIGHT CLR TO LAND ON R. I MENTIONED TO CAPT ILS RWY 24R TUNED AND IDENTED. WATCH TFC ON YOUR SIDE LNDG ON S SIDE. FOR SOME REASON I HAD TO MENTION THIS TWICE. THE CAPT THEN ASKED TWR WHERE IS THIS TFC GOING ON L? AT THAT TIME 727 MADE A GAR, AND AT SAME TIME, LAX TWR SAID GAR, CLB 200 FT. WE MADE NORMAL COMPANY GAR AT 2000 FT, LAX TWR CONTACT DEP. DEP SAID FLY DIRECT TO SMO CLB TO 4000 FT. I THEN TUNED AND IDENTED SMO 110.8 ON CAPT SIDE AND FLEW TO SMO. THEN CAME AROUND TO LAND.
