Narrative:
My employer, xx airlines, will substitute capts for first officer's when all first officer's are being used or short on first officer's. Unfortunately the only training capts receive in the right seat are 2 lndgs in the simulator every 6 months. I just flew right seat and can testify to the fact that it was definitely an unsafe trip. I was slow to react and uncomfortable in the right seat. This is only the 3RD time in 2 1/2 yrs that I have flown right seat in this aircraft. There is no way to maintain any type of currency in the right seat to safely fly these trips. Upon receiving our 6 month checks there is literally no emphasis placed on the responsibilities and requirements for first officer's. The 2 lndgs in the right seat at the end of simulator training are done in haste and merely to fill a legal requirement.

I WAS SLOW TO REACT AND UNCOMFORTABLE IN THE R SEAT. THIS IS ONLY THE 3RD TIME IN 2 1/2 YRS THAT I HAVE FLOWN R SEAT IN THIS ACFT. THERE IS NO WAY TO MAINTAIN ANY TYPE OF CURRENCY IN THE R SEAT TO SAFELY FLY THESE TRIPS. UPON RECEIVING OUR 6 MONTH CHKS THERE IS LITERALLY NO EMPHASIS PLACED ON THE RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS FOR FO'S.
