Narrative:

Dispatched mia-den flight with non overwater aircraft on an overwater route. Database in the computer showed route as a domestic route. Database has been corrected. Supplemental information from acn 288879: aircraft was non-overwater and advised flight that they would need to stay over land. Dispatcher filed and released flight on overwater route, believing there was no problem. Discovered later that the route had been entered incorrectly and was tagged a non-overwater route. Since the computer was programmed to stop anyone from putting a non-over water aircraft on an over water route, it didn't work in this case since the route was tagged incorrectly.
