Narrative:

Cruise phase of flight. TCASII annunciated 'RA, climb.' displayed as 12 O'clock and 11800 ft. I disconnected the autoplt and immediately pitched up to achieve rate of climb as shown on the vsi green arc (1500 FPM). New york controller never called the traffic. We did not sight the intruder until they were past us. No loss of separation despite deviating 1000 ft from our assigned altitude. TCASII did not issue TA.

Title: NMAC AVOIDED AS TCASII RA REDUCES INCIDENT TO A POTENTIAL CONFLICT.

Narrative: CRUISE PHASE OF FLT. TCASII ANNUNCIATED 'RA, CLB.' DISPLAYED AS 12 O'CLOCK AND 11800 FT. I DISCONNECTED THE AUTOPLT AND IMMEDIATELY PITCHED UP TO ACHIEVE RATE OF CLB AS SHOWN ON THE VSI GREEN ARC (1500 FPM). NEW YORK CTLR NEVER CALLED THE TFC. WE DID NOT SIGHT THE INTRUDER UNTIL THEY WERE PAST US. NO LOSS OF SEPARATION DESPITE DEVIATING 1000 FT FROM OUR ASSIGNED ALT. TCASII DID NOT ISSUE TA.
