Narrative:

Ramp agents direct our taxiing in and out of parking spaces. Ramper was standing ahead and to left side of aircraft, directing us forward approximately 2'. He then signaled a right turn, and as I turned aircraft we felt a bump. I shut engines down and went out to investigate. A baggage cart which had been left behind the aircraft was hit by our tailskid as we swung aircraft to the right. The tailskid was only slightly dented as my taxi speed was dead slow. I had maintenance check tailskid structure. Tailskid on mdt is fixed and consists of a steel box-like structure with a fiberglass fairing. Fairing was scratched, dented and slightly cracked but skid structure was ok and aircraft structure was ok (I had them inspect aircraft tail section for damage as well). Tailskid is deferrable item, so tailskid was deferred and we departed.
