Narrative:

Wake turbulence 5 mi behind B757 is ferocious! Have followed many 'heavies' in my flying career on GS and closer than 5 mi. Never a problem, but now 2 times, 2 days in a row, on approach to lax 25L, our A300 rolled positively and, initially, unctlably. Seriously recommend greater spacing behind B757. (Greater than other 'heavies'). Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: captain said this happened 2 days in a row at lax. 757 was 7 NM in front of him on the ILS for runway 25L. Other traffic for the parallel runway, but was not a heavy, widebody transport or 757. ATC did not give a wake turbulence advisory, but did both days advise him that he was following a 757. Time of day was in period 3 both days and good VFR conditions 'for lax.' had runway in sight and doesn't know what type aircraft was ahead of the 757. First officer was flying and turbulence was 'significant' causing considerable left and right roll to the A300. Said purpose of the report was to advise ASRS of what he encountered and the effect it had on his A300.

Title: FLC OF ACR A300 ACFT LOST CTL OF ACFT ON ILS APCH 5 MI BEHIND AND APPROX 2000 FT ABOVE B757 ACFT DUE TO WAKE TURB.

Narrative: WAKE TURB 5 MI BEHIND B757 IS FEROCIOUS! HAVE FOLLOWED MANY 'HEAVIES' IN MY FLYING CAREER ON GS AND CLOSER THAN 5 MI. NEVER A PROB, BUT NOW 2 TIMES, 2 DAYS IN A ROW, ON APCH TO LAX 25L, OUR A300 ROLLED POSITIVELY AND, INITIALLY, UNCTLABLY. SERIOUSLY RECOMMEND GREATER SPACING BEHIND B757. (GREATER THAN OTHER 'HEAVIES'). CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: CAPT SAID THIS HAPPENED 2 DAYS IN A ROW AT LAX. 757 WAS 7 NM IN FRONT OF HIM ON THE ILS FOR RWY 25L. OTHER TFC FOR THE PARALLEL RWY, BUT WAS NOT A HVY, WDB OR 757. ATC DID NOT GIVE A WAKE TURB ADVISORY, BUT DID BOTH DAYS ADVISE HIM THAT HE WAS FOLLOWING A 757. TIME OF DAY WAS IN PERIOD 3 BOTH DAYS AND GOOD VFR CONDITIONS 'FOR LAX.' HAD RWY IN SIGHT AND DOESN'T KNOW WHAT TYPE ACFT WAS AHEAD OF THE 757. FO WAS FLYING AND TURB WAS 'SIGNIFICANT' CAUSING CONSIDERABLE L AND R ROLL TO THE A300. SAID PURPOSE OF THE RPT WAS TO ADVISE ASRS OF WHAT HE ENCOUNTERED AND THE EFFECT IT HAD ON HIS A300.
