Narrative:

After landing at ric, flight pulling off runway 2, first officer switched to ground but was unable to get a reply from ground to taxi in. Taxi was clear all the way to gate and first officer continued calling ground in blind but he wouldn't answer so I elected to taxi to get attention, looking for green light as first officer continued calling ground. Ground then came back, upset with us for continued taxi without clearance. Didn't even try to hear our reason. Very short with us, even with our apology. Didn't have enough time to call him by phone because of short turn around and when we taxied out it was a different controller. We tried to resolve it, but he wasn't in the mood for it!
