Narrative:

En route I experienced loss of both transmitters on an IFR flight plan during VMC conditions. I established communication through use of identify on transponder. I was planning to land in fulton county, GA, but fuel indicators showed lower than necessary fuel. I called bhm approach to request landing in bhm. Bhm received unreadable message. I turned toward bhm and idented. They then asked if I wanted to land bhm. I replied positive. Rest if flight uneventful. Established radio communication with ground after turning all unnecessary navigation equipment off and allowing it to cool.
